Taboo is about superstition that we should always follow or something that restricts us from discussing because it may be deemed as an embarrassing or offensive topic. But why should we always follow the superstition and feel embarrassed with the topic considered as taboo? There’s no solid proof that every person who disobeys superstition will have bad luck forever. Discussions about an embarrassing topic might help you in the future or even today.

To keep it short, here are the Top Four Taboos that We Should Break and Talk About:

1. Black cat means bad luck

No one should be treated as bad luck, even animals. If you have an unfortunate day or year, do not blame the black cat, it’s just that bad luck is meant to come in your life.

2. Clearing the dining table while someone is still eating

You won’t live a lonely life forever if you won’t make your life lonely. You can still be happy without a company in your life.

3. Intermarriage

There’s nothing wrong about marriage unless your partner is your close relative. Everyone should know that once they got married to a close relative, their child might have birth defect or genetic disease.

4. Sex

We don’t have a proper sex education and that is the reason why the population here in the Philippines keeps on booming every year.

We should not be afraid to break a superstition or be embarrassed to talk about something we want to talk about. Break it if you want and find someone who is comfortable to talk with about the topic you want. Taboos don’t mean that you should restrict yourself but of course you should always have respect for what they believe and be sensitive.
